TC Updates
13 November 2024: Two Factor Authenticator
FinClear are always working to improve our platform security and as such we are now making Two Factor Authentication (via an authenticion app) mandatory. This is a simple but very effective way to ensure your login is secure.
When you log in from 13 November, if you do not already have 2FA enabled via authentication app, you will see a pop up prompting you to set this up. You will be given a 7 day grace period to defer the set-up, after which you will not be able to log in to TradeCentre without 2FA enabled.
The 2FA code for TCOps, TCWealth & TCPro is the same - you only need to set up once to access both platforms.
TCAdviser users will need to do a second set-up, the 2FA code will be different to the code you use for TCOps/TCWealth.
See below step-by-step guide on how to enable 2FA. If you are having issues with setting up the app on your device, please refer to your own IT team for assistance.
Step 1:
If you do not already have an Authentication App downloaded on your mobile device, you will need to download one from the App Store on your device. We recommend discussing with your own internal IT team if there is a preferred app to use at your business. Examples of some available apps are:
Step 2:
In FinClear's TradeCentre (TC) - go to Account settings which is in the top right-hand corner of the platform
Step 3:
Select Two-Factor Authentication, then click "Enable via Authentication App". You should then see a QR code.
If your Two Factor Authentication is ‘Enabled’ you do not need to take any further action.
Step 4:
Open your preferred authentication app and navigate to add a new account/code/login.
Scan the QR code, enter the current verification code shown on your device, then click Verify.
You may be prompted to name the account, if you like you can name as "FinClear" or "TradeCentre".
Step 5 (next time you log in):
Once 2FA is enabled, your chosen authentication app will display a code that is unique to your FinClear login (the code changes every 30 seconds or so). Enter this code when you are asked for "Second Factor".
If you have other codes set up in the same Authenticator App, take care to enter the correct code for your FinClear/TradeCentre login.
Two Factor Authenticator - FAQs
How do I add FinClear to my authenticator app to access the 2FA code?
The exact process depends on which authenticator app you are using. Please check the guide provided by the app on how to add a new login or ask your IT team for help.
I use TCAdviser and TCOps/Wealth, how do I know which code is which in the app?
The default naming for the codes when added to your authenticator app is:
for TCOps/Wealth/Pro - finclear.tradecentre.io: Email address
for TCAdviser - TradeCentre: Email Address
We strongly reccommend renaming these in the authenticator app to clearly differentiate between platforms.
If I enable 2FA in one platform, will it be automatically enabed in another?
2FA across TCOps, TCWealth, TCAdmin & TCPro will use the same 2FA code. TCAdviser will have a separate 2FA code.
I have enabled 2FA but when I log in, it's not asking me for the code.
If you have ticked the checkbox "Don't ask again on this computer", and you are logging in from the same browser and device, you will not be asked for 2FA. This resets every 30 days.
I entered my Username and Password in TC Adviser but I stil can't log in?
If you have enabled 2FA in your TCAdviser desktop application, you must enter your 2FA/MFA code at the logon screen along with your username and password credentials. At the TCA Logon Screen, enter your Username, Password AND MFA code using your authenticator application.
